Photo essays can also explain and inform, as in news and non-fiction articles. Collaboration for effective communication is a foundational skill in learning and in life. And while teachers are constantly reminding their students to "play nice", many students need to learn and practice this skill in a structured setting in order to more clearly understand how to collaborate. Editorials and Opinion Texts - Persuasive Texts
Examining non-fiction text for structure, content, and sources of information, allows our students to make informed opinions about what is going on in the world around them. Further, it allows them to formulate and express their own opinions based on the non-fiction text and perspectives of others. This lesson will give students the opportunity to analyze and compose an opinion text, based on the non-fiction texts they have gathered and analyzed.
